A fifteen-year-old youth has been judged to life imprisonment with a minimum term of sixteen years for the murder of another pupil Harvey Willgoose during a lunch break.
The perpetrator pierced the victim, who was also fifteen, in the chest with a weapon at the learning facility in February.
Mrs Justice Naomi Ellenbogen lifted the identity protection order on the perpetrator during sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court.
Caroline Willgoose expressed she felt "as if a large weight has been taken off my back" following the sentencing.
The two teenagers had previously argued over digital networks in the period leading up to the fatal encounter.
Mrs Willgoose remarked she was relieved the base duration had been established above the required minimum of 15-year period.
"My father has been undergoing cancer treatment through the trial and he just couldn't continue any longer," she said.
Before the murder on the third of February, the perpetrator and the victim had adopted opposite viewpoints in a unrelated conflict between other pupils.
Surveillance video from the day of the knife attack displayed the perpetrator coming near Harvey in the school yard shortly after midday.
Observers recounted a scene of "confusion", with people "running, yelling throughout" during the brutal incident.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Khan testified he had not meant to kill Harvey or cause him significant damage, asserting he could not recall what had transpired.
The state maintained that he had "intended to demonstrate he was formidable" and "knew exactly what he was doing".
"You were the instigator and... you behaved in pain and anger at what you considered to be his treachery of your bond," declared the justice during the judgment.
The educational institution published a announcement conveying that the pupil was "dearly missed every single day by the entire learning environment".
Investigators emphasized the catastrophic consequences of carrying knives, observing that a "split-second choice" can irreversibly alter multiple existences.
This incident has sparked ongoing conversations about youth conflict, blade possession, and school protection procedures throughout the community.
