Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
