Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
