France's Premier Resigns Following Less Than a Month Amid Extensive Criticism of New Cabinet

France's government instability has intensified after the freshly installed PM unexpectedly quit within a short time of announcing a cabinet.

Rapid Exit Amid Political Instability

The prime minister was the third premier in a single year, as the country continued to move from one government turmoil to another. He stepped down moments before his initial ministerial gathering on Monday afternoon. The president accepted the prime minister's resignation on Monday morning.

Furious Criticism Over New Cabinet

Lecornu had faced furious criticism from opposition politicians when he presented a fresh cabinet that was virtually unchanged since last previous month's ousting of his former PM, his predecessor.

The announced cabinet was controlled by Macron's allies, leaving the government almost unchanged.

Opposition Reaction

Rival groups said the prime minister had reversed on the "major shift" with earlier approaches that he had vowed when he came to power from the unfavored previous leader, who was removed on September 9th over a planned spending cuts.

Next Political Course

The question now is whether the national leader will decide to terminate the legislature and call another snap election.

Jordan Bardella, the leader of Marine Le Pen's opposition group, said: "There cannot be a return to stability without a new election and the parliament's termination."

He continued, "Obviously the president who decided this government himself. He has failed to comprehend of the current circumstances we are in."

Vote Demands

The far-right party has pushed for another vote, confident they can increase their positions and presence in the assembly.

The country has gone through a period of uncertainty and political crisis since the centrist Macron called an inconclusive snap election last year. The assembly remains separated between the political factions: the progressive side, the far right and the moderate faction, with no absolute dominance.

Budget Deadline

A budget for next year must be approved within a short time, even though parliamentary groups are at disagreement and Lecornu's tenure ended in barely three weeks.

Opposition Motion

Political groups from the left to conservative wing were to hold meetings on Monday to decide whether or not to approve to oust the prime minister in a no-confidence vote, and it appeared that the cabinet would collapse before it had even begun operating. The prime minister reportedly decided to resign before he could be dismissed.

Cabinet Positions

Most of the major ministerial positions announced on the previous evening remained the same, including the legal affairs head as justice minister and arts and heritage leader as culture minister.

The position of economic policy head, which is essential as a split assembly struggles to approve a spending package, went to a Macron ally, a presidential supporter who had earlier worked as economic sector leader at the beginning of Macron's second term.

Surprise Appointment

In a shocking development, the president's political partner, a Macron ally who had acted as financial affairs leader for seven years of his leadership, was reappointed to cabinet as military affairs head. This angered leaders across the political divide, who considered it a indication that there would be no doubt or alteration of the president's economic policies.
