Skydance Paramount plans to initiate significant workforce reductions beginning on 27 October, cutting approximately 2,000 positions in the United States as part of a budget-saving initiative worth $2bn under top executive David Ellison.

The workforce reduction follow the union of Skydance Media and Paramount Global, completed during August with a value of $8.4bn.

Further global layoffs are anticipated, with the company aiming to reveal complete information during its third-quarter financial update on 10 November.

Prior news suggested that Paramount aimed to reduce from 2,000 and 3,000 roles before the start of November.

Until December 2024, Paramount retained nearly 18,600 workers on full-time and part-time contracts and 3,500 project-based staff.

Paramount Skydance did not immediately respond on the matter.
